My coming to Greece

Hello! I introduce myself, I am Sara and I´m a European volunteer in Eleftheroupoli, Kavala, Greece in Pythia organization, where I will be the next six or seven months.
For some time I had decided to live a volunteer experience, so I learned about the European volunteer service, and after a selection process, I was chosen by Pythia (Greece). This is the first time I would live so long abroad, and I was very nervous before starting the trip about how this would go. My trip started on January 3 in Seville, and what would be a trip of 13 hours, because I made a stop in Sweden, it would become a trip of many more hours. From Seville, which is where I live, the first step was to go to Malaga, where my plane would leave for Stockholm. This involved three long hours by car, plus the four hours the flight would take to Sweden.

In Sweden I would stay all night, since my flight left at six thirty in the morning. The whole night was snowing, so in the morning when I got on the plane it was snowy.

However, the trip was about to go wrong. When it had been almost three hours on the plane, and this was near Thessaloniki, the weather in this city was horrible and it became impossible to land, so the plane continued to Athens. Where I was lucky to meet a Greek woman who helped me with everything, and with whom I spent seven hours waiting at the Athens airport for the flight that would take me to Thessaloniki. At the airport Chara, who is part of the host organization, was waiting for me to take me to the Thessaloniki bus station.

At this point, I had been traveling for 23 hours, and I still had two more hours of bus to Kavala. Although they happened to me fast, since I could rest on the bus, and as soon as I arrived in Kavala, Ioanna was waiting for me. Definitely this was the longest trip I had, however as we say in Spain, what starts bad ends well. And I definitely know that this experience will be incredible.
